New Village Hall Progress
The opportunity to replace our existing hall was created when the Ainslie family generously offered to gift a suitable piece of land in Park Lane to the village. This enabled the village hall trustees to develop the design for a modern sustainable building with adequate parking and surrounding outdoor space. Following a successful community referendum, planning permission was gained in late 2019 and fund raising activity began, principally by applying for grants. Unfortunately this coincided with arrival of CoVid and most sources of funding were justifiably diverted to support those causes most affected. We will resume our grant funding efforts during 2022 while continuing to raise money locally through village events.
Meanwhile, having gained planning permission, the legal formalities necessary to transfer ownership of the Park Lane land to the Cherhill Village Hall CIO have progressed and are nearing completion. In the period before funds allow us to start hall construction we are developing plans to put the land to good use by the village. For example in the past the Village Fete has been staged in our field and you may have other ideas?
